Meet the artist:
Eighteen year old Alyssa is happiest when she is creating art. For this wish kid, painting has became a tool to help her battle the connective tissue disorder with which she was diagnosed nine years ago. Throughout her many doctors visits, hospital stays and medical procedures, painting brings her joy and helps keep her hopeful. Her art has that effect on her family, friends, and community too.
On July 19, 2017, with the help of Jewelers for Children, Make-A-Wish Alabama granted Alyssa’s wish to have a treehouse art studio. She watched the construction of her dream space with great anticipation. On the day her wish was completed, family and friends watched as she cut through a blue ribbon and walked into her new studio. Through happy tears, she found a drafting table, easels, new paints and brushes – everything she needed to create the art that continues to bring her hope, strength and joy.
