Round 1 Recap

Round 1 is in the books. It wasn’t our typical layout as the mountains around northeast AL provided some of the hardest terrain we have raced on. “TKO” was a common term used after the race, which is just across the Tennessee line not far from the race.

The Youth race got us off to some great action with Williams and Mcannally wheel to wheel the entire race with Jon Mcannally making the last lap pass on Williams for the Youth A win. Ensign Payne bumped up to Youth B and took home the win ahead of the Vick brothers.

The course was so treacherous that the C motos rode the 3 mile youth loop. Connor Barrett showed off on his new KTM with a 1-1 for the overall. Jim Parsons and Frank Conn rounded out the AM podium.

The course was routed to the harder sections for the A/B race. Tanner McCoy pulled a lead on lap 1 and rode steady minimizing his mistakes. Ousley and Downs battled for 2nd until Downs bike quit halfway through lap 2. On moto 2, Ousley took off with a big lead only to have issues on the last lap with McCoy getting by for the overall. Ousley and Jeff Cowan took 2-3 in AA. Marty Michels made the 6.5 hour drive from northern Kentucky to take home 30+ A win and 3rd overall on the day.

Please say a prayer for a couple injured riders: Tim Morgan tore his ACL in moto 1 and Trey Grimes broke his femur late in moto 2. Trey should get to go home Monday and start his recovery. Thanks to the riders during the race slowing down as trey got loaded up and the ones who stayed with him until help got there.
