Making his way up through the ranks into the B class this season, Eddie Scott, has snagged a couple of podiums in his first season up from Vet C. This weekend we head to his territory of Mississippi for round 6 of the series. We decided to talk to, “Darth Vader”, whom I call the “Man of Mystery” to get his take on things. Yippee-ki-yay!
- Hometown: Mantachie, Mississippi
- Age: 41
- Class: B Vet
- Bike: 2013 YZ450f (yummy)
- Years racing: 25
- First Bike: Hodaka Dirt Squirt 100 (not so yummy)
- How did you get started racing? I cut my racing teeth in southern California when I was stationed there in the Marines , plus I finally had some money to buy competitive equipment and gear.
- Why do you ride Yamaha? Have you ever have a lemon? You know the reason they call it a lemon? “bad taste, right.” Now you ever had two lemons ? I know how far ktm has come and but I get a puckered up look when I think about the trouble I had back with a 99′. I also have a yamaha dealer local who helps me with my parts and he buys a crap load of computer stuff from me . He is “my friend” and I am old school about shopping with people who shop with me.
- What race are you looking forward to this year? Or has it already come and gone? I Love the Ridge, it’s my favorite course in secca. I have been on the box every time there,(except the time I crashed and dislocated my shoulder) and I love jumping! I wish all courses had “area 51.” It suits my riding style better cause its not a ton of single track (which I am still learning.)
- What is your most memorable racing experience? Being born with racing in my blood , this is a tough one! I have raced everything from Drag cars, Dirt Oval, Dirt Bikes, and the local law enforcement… I guess racing with Emig, McGrath, and the pros when they came out and practiced at Starwest Mx Park had to be some of the best memories I have on a dirt bike.
- If you had the chance to go riding with anyone, who would it be? Barry Obama, Not gonna say why due to audit implications.
- Any parting words? When life is a mess and it looks too hard to but together, try reading the Directions!! KJV
